First we started out with a simple ping pong table. cardboard base, cardboard net, and cardboard paddles. we realized that the net was to tall so we cut it down around 2 inches. We then proceeded to reinforce the paddles so that they would not flop around when used. when we got our ping pong balls and tested them on the table, we realized that they wouldn't bounce. So we put a different type of cardboard on top of it to improve bounce factors by 2. further more, doubting the fact that the ball would go over the net, we cut holes into the net, saying that if you got it in, it was double points.
Present Solution
After 1 week of work, made up of research, building, and teamwork, me and my partner have successfully completed our cardboard arcade project. i focused on the size of the board, while my partner focused on the dimensions of the paddles. we both worked on the net. It is completely playable with a fun cardboard twist. It has holes in the net for double points and "strong" paddles to do your whacking with. There may be some bounce problems, but with our limited resources, only so much could be done. Next time, we would probably spend more time improving or thinking about ways to make the ping pong ball bounce better on a cardboard surface. We would also improve the overall design of our game.
