The variables in the toll booth project were all the input and outputs and also the Qa and Qb. The inputs are all the switches, open and closed, including limit switch. The outputs were motor and gate open/closed. They decided what the toll booth was going to do and react.
The actions were of basic toll booth actions. Turn the motor and gate on the gate will open up, in theory letting cars pass. Then the gate will close and the motor will turn on while closing the gate, then off while its down

Conclusion
During the duration of this project, wiring state machines have been relatively simple compared to other projects we have done, in my experience. My partner was absent most of the time so I had to do a majority of the work myself, which put me in a frenzy so it was easy to make mistakes. I had to review the MultiSim multiple times and look for mistakes and errors. I realized I had used the wrong gates in some areas and even wired the display backwards. Reading schematics has become easier and I'm getting better at getting expressions of of the schematics. Wiring has definitely gotten easier since the beginning of the year. But next time, I would pay more attention to similar projects and slow down so I can concentrate on the components.
